The establishment of Department of Agro-Industrial (AIT) Technology began from the opening of the study interest under the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture in 1983. A year later in 1984, The study Interest of Agro-Industrial Technology was included in the UMPTN list (selection of new student admissions). Also in 1984, the status of Agro-Industrial Technology was changed to a study program, although the stipulation as Study Program of Agro-Industrial Technology was only on April 1, 1998 with the issuance of the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture Number: 103/DIKTI/Kep/1998.
On January 26, 1998, the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FAT), Universitas Brawijaya was officially established, with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture Number: 012a/O/1998. Since then, Study program of Agro-Industrial Technology has changed its status to become part of FAT from what was originally under Faculty of Agriculture. After the establishment of this FAT, Studi Program of Agro-Industrial Technology then changed its status to Department of Agro-Industrial Technology.
The Department of Agro-Industrial Technology started to open the Master Program (S2) of Agro-Industrial Technology in 2007. The operational permit for the Master Program is stated in the Decree of Dirjen Dikti Depdikbud number: 1504/D/T/2007.
At the doctoral level, the Doctoral Program (S3) of Agro-Industrial Technology obtains a standing permit based on SK No. 234/SK/2010 dated 6 August 2010. At that time, the Doctoral Program of Agro-Industrial Technology was one of the Study interest under the Doctoral Program of Agricultural Sciences Faculty of Agriculture. The Doctoral Program of Agro-Industrial Technology officially began to be under the auspices of the Department of Agro-Industrial Technology starting in 2013 with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture Number: 420/E/O/2013.
All study programs at the Department of Agro-Industrial Technology have received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) with an “A” grade. The Undergraduate Program of Agro-Industrial Technology received “A” accreditation since 2007, Master Program of Agro-Industrial Technology received “A” accreditation since 2016, and Doctoral Program Agro-Industrial Technology Accredited “A” since 2020.
In addition to national certification through BAN-PT, study program of Agro-Industrial Technology has also been certified at the ASEAN regional level by the Asean University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) since 2016.
Study interest Agro-Industrial Technology (AIT) was opened under the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture.
