The Institute of Research and Community Service of Brawijaya University (LPPM UB), in collaboration with The Ministry of Public Works and Housing, has organized thematic public community service in Malang. 90 students were debriefed prior to their involvement in community service, on Wednesday, 3 February 2016, in the auditorium of Central Library.
The chief of Thematic Community Service LPPM Dr. Ir. Susinggih Wijana, MS, said that the community service is intended for 18 villages in Singosari, Pakis and Pakisaji. The theme for community service in all of these areas is Sanitation and Waste Infrastructure.
The chief, who is also a faculty member or Faculty of Agricultural Technology, explained further that the main role of students during their community service is as supervisor when the community or community institution makes proposal for building infrastructure. The university shall not be accountable for the fund disbursement.
“The disbursement of funds will be directly to the community, we (Brawijaya University) shall not be involved” he said.
This thematic community service is performed by students from Faculty of Mathematics and Science (FMIPA) and Faculty of Humanities (FIB) in their 6th or 7th
semester. Particularly for students from FIB, The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has asked for a report regarding the social conditions of the community..[dinda/siti rahma]
